Celebrating 50 years since our inception. Here’s the next featured member. Steve Mabry and his super-cool ’34 Chevy. Watch how he built this in his garage over a 9 year period.
Steve wants to let us all know, his hot rod was started with a $100.00 283 cid engine he found in a throw-away sale paper at his home in Wyoming. He couldn’t turn it down, even as the ad said: “Fresh rebuild, uses oil.” Steve took the engine apart and found the builder had lined up all the ring gaps on three of the pistons. This had to have been done on purpose.
Steve rebuilt the engine with a long duration cam, power pack heads with the big valves powering through a 2-speed powerglide to a Ford 9″ rear end with high gears. He’s been driving this car for the past 18 years and is having a blast getting 20 mpg at 75 mph.
